Reception - Oak Class
The Reception Class includes children in the age range from 4-5 years old. The Reception Year is the foundation on which future learning takes place. We encourage creativity, independence, enquiry, communication and problem solving. Most importantly with the children we try to create an enjoyable experience and have fun. The classroom and its outside area are always busy. You never know what you may find in Reception: a park keeper, a bean stalk, caterpillars and best of all a whole class of new friends.
Miss Palmer, who joined Meadowside in 2005, is part of our excellent reception team. Mrs Palmer will always greet you with a smile. Her experience and knowledge of EYFS is simply awesome and we are very lucky to have her. She is enthusiastic about outdoor learning in our Forest School, is the Geography Subject Leader and is also a key member of the English team.

Miss Palmer is very ably assisted by Mrs Greig a professionally qualified Teaching Assistant. Mrs Greig joined Meadowside in 2021 and has settled into Meadowside life very quickly.
“Despite joining Meadowside during the Pandemic in what was such a tricky time for all , I was very quickly welcomed and settled into the Meadowside family team very quickly. I loved how dedicated and enthusiastic the staff team are about providing a wide range of opportunities for the children. I thoroughly enjoy watching the children grow, develop friendships and gain confidence as they become independent learners whilst adjusting to day to day life at school.”
