Making a difference
for our future

Reception – Maple Class

The Reception Class includes children in the age range from 4-5 years old. The Reception Year is the foundation on which future learning takes place. We encourage creativity, independence, enquiry, communication and problem solving. Most importantly with the children we try to create an enjoyable experience and have fun. The classroom and its outside area are always busy. You never know what you may find in Reception: a park keeper, a bean stalk, caterpillars and best of all a whole class of new friends.

Mrs Smith, who joined Meadowside in 2005, is part of our excellent reception team. She is our SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities) coordinator. Mrs Smith is also part of the English team.

“I enjoy working as part of the Reception Team, welcoming children into our Meadowside family.”

Mrs Lyes joined Meadowside in 2017 and it is a pleasure to have her as part of our school family. She currently works as a 1:1 teaching assistant.

“I have found the staff and pupils at Meadowside School to be warm, welcoming and friendly.  I feel very lucky to work in such a special place.”

The reception team are supported by Miss Visaranta, a professionally qualified Teaching Assistant who joined Meadowside in September 2015. Miss Visaranta works 1:1, or in very small groups. If something arty has gone up in school, you can be sure Miss Visaranta is behind it!

“Hello everyone! I’m pleased to be working at Meadowside Primary School. I live local to the area and my main passion is creativity.”
