At Meadowside Primary School, equality is important because we believe that every child deserves to feel respected, valued and included, regardless of their background, abilities, beliefs or experiences. By promoting equality, we create a safe and welcoming environment where all children have the opportunity to thrive, achieve their potential and develop positive relationships. Encouraging fairness, understanding and respect helps our pupils appreciate diversity and prepares them to become kind, responsible members of the wider community.

Meadowside Primary School aims to meet its obligations under the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) by having due regard to the need to:

1) Eliminate discrimination, harassment, victimisation and other conduct that is prohibited by the Equality Act 2010

2) Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share a relevant protected characteristic

3) Foster good relations across all characteristics – between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.

We have adopted a policy and through our action plan continually review and seek to improve our provision in this regard.
